If you’ve ever experienced a dental emergency, you understand that they can be stressful. But if you understand what you should do during an emergency, you will be able to reduce the amount of stress you experience. With this in mind, do you know what you should do if a filling falls out?
You could lose a filling for a number of reasons. For example, did you know that biting down too hard could dislodge your filling? Older fillings may be more likely to fall out, while a newer filling will typically be stronger. But if you care for your teeth well, your fillings may last longer.
If you do lose a filling, there are a number of steps you should take. For example, we recommend scheduling an appointment with our dentist as soon as possible. But losing a filling can cause pain and discomfort, and painkillers could help in the meantime. You can also place a piece of sugarless gum in the cavity. Please remember to choose sugarless gum since a gum with sugar could cause pain. You can also use over-the-counter dental cement to temporarily hold your filling in place.
